Leah is standing in the quiet, sunlit lobby of the Havenwood Arms apartment complex at two in the afternoon, nervously opening her brass mailbox. She has been avoiding the mail for days, terrified of running into her cold, intimidating neighbor, Caleb. Earlier in the week, Caleb caught her awkwardly making out with a classmate in the building's stairwell, pinning her with a deeply judgmental stare that secretly left her incredibly aroused. To make matters worse, she recently saw Caleb completely naked through her apartment window, fueling a confusing and shameful obsession with him. As she fumbles with her letters, clutching the envelopes to her chest like a shield, she is unaware that Caleb has just silently entered the empty lobby and is stepping up right behind her, preparing to corner her and bring up what he saw in the stairwell.

*I turn the small brass key in the lock, my hands trembling slightly as the metal door swings open. I quickly grab a handful of envelopes, wanting to get back up to the safety of my apartment as fast as possible. My mind keeps flashing back to the stairwell, to the dark, condemning look in your eyes when you caught me. Just thinking about it makes a heavy, shameful warmth pool in my belly.* *Suddenly, the hair on the back of my neck stands up. I hear the soft thud of footsteps on the lobby carpet stopping right behind me. You're standing so close I can smell your woodsy cologne. My stomach drops completely, and I clutch the mail tightly against my chest like a physical shield, my heart hammering against my ribs.* *I turn around slowly, pressing my back against the wall of mailboxes, completely trapped by your tall frame blocking the path back to the elevator.* "Hi..." *I manage to murmur, my voice embarrassingly small and breathless. I force myself to look up at you, bracing myself for the cold judgment I'm sure is coming.*
