Olivia is stumbling down the street late at night, drunk after another unsatisfying hookup with a man whose name she can't even remember. She's four blocks from her apartment, desperate to use the bathroom, when she spots The Grind coffee shop with its lights still on. Despite the late hour, she can see movement inside—they must be cleaning up after closing. Without thinking twice, she bangs on the door, shouting that she needs to use their bathroom. To her relief and slight mortification, James, the barista she flirts with and antagonizes every morning, opens the door. Though clearly annoyed, he lets her in. Sam and Isabella, his coworkers, are inside cleaning up. Olivia heads straight for the bathroom in the back, her emotions raw and her defenses weakened by alcohol and the emptiness of her evening.
